"We have about 53 members," said Kim Holden, president of the 8 Wing Officers Mess Ladies Club. "We meet here every second Wednesday. This is a special Spa night."
Several estheticians from Loyalist College made up a long line of manicurists for the ladies, and there were reflexologists, massage therapists, and even a Tarot Card reader. The lunch was pro-vided by the ladies who specialized in fabulous food and copious cupcakes.
Local estheticians included Lolly Lodge Spa on Glen Miller Road. Stacey Maltby and Tina Mountenay offered eyebrow waxing or lip waxing.
Andrea McKinley, a registered massage and reflexologist from Ameliasburgh, concentrated on helping people put their best feet forward. She also does Ionic Detox Footbaths and CranioSacral therapy.
Ruth Bruce from Paux in Tyme on Rednersville Road also did reflexology as well as Indian Head Massage, Reiki and hot stone therapy.
The estheticians from Loyalist were busy doing manicures. "This is really a polish change," said Andi Chamberlain as she worked on Isobel Whitley. "She has great nails."
Representatives from Mary K were also on hand, offering various products to accent the natural beauty of the ladies.
Wine was also available at the club, and several ladies just chose to relax and sip some red wine after a stressful evening at the spa.
All proceeds went to Camp Trillium which now operates two sites in Ontario: Odd Fellow and Rebekah Island, formerly Garratt 's Island (since 1989), near Sandbanks Provincial Park in Picton, and Rainbow Lake (since 1997) in Waterford. Camp Trillium also travels to ten different Ontario cities, operating day camp programs in the summer. Throughout the year, Youth Groups and Trillium in the Community programs are offered in several major centres. Camp Trillium has experienced phenomenal growth since its inception in 1984.
