Al Lerman, leader of the award-winning band Fathead, is having a "sneak preview" CD release party at Rubb's BBQ in Campbellford on February 2. The gig will give local fans a chance to pick up Al's first solo CD Crowe River Blues. Show time is 8 p.m. There is no cover charge.
EMC Entertainment -Campbellford -Multi-instrumentalist bluesman Al Lerman will warm up a cold Canadian winter evening when he takes the stage at Rubb's BBQ in Campbellford February 2 for a special "sneak peak" CD release party for his debut album Crowe River Blues.

The Havelock area resident is widely considered to be one of the top harmonica players in Canada and well known as bandleader and founder of Juno award winning band Fathead. Lerman's been performing for four decades and will cook up some pretty savoury blues at Rubb's.

Lerman has been performing solo at the popular Campbellford establishment every Thursday night and "wanted to give his hometown area fans a chance to get the disc before anybody else."

The "official" release party will take place February 25 in Toronto at the Delta Chelsea Hotel's Monarchs Pub on Gerrard Street.

Lerman describes the 13-track Crowe River Blues as an album filled with "rollicking-feel-good blues, harmonica shakedowns, N'Awlins-infused funk and heartfelt ballad." The recording features Lerman on lead vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, harmonica and tenor sax with some mighty good musical help from bassist/producer Alec Fraser (Jeff Healey), pianist and organist Lance Anderson and Bucky Berger on drums.

Keyboardist Anderson will be joining Lerman at the February 2 gig. There is no cover charge for the CD release party.

Fathead won Junos for blues recording of the year in 1998 and 2008.

For those who don't know, Rubb's is located at 18 Bridge Street West right at the lights by the bridge. The show gets under way at 8 p.m.
