Riverside Music is offering summer camps for half days or full days at their downtown Trenton location.

"This is our third year for holding camps," says Maggie George.

The specialized camps include Rock Band, designed for the young musician to learn rock styles and the basics of creating songs. Instructors Devin Bruinix and Jordan Thomas were at the open house on June 29 playing music.

Campers can also learn Musical Theatre or Glee Camp with director Maddy Hubbard. "Young people learn how to play music, sing and create performances," she says. They also make their own costumes after a trip to the second-hand store and offer a demonstration for parents at the end of the two week camp.

Maddy lives in Carrying Place and has a strong background in voice, with studies at University of Toronto. This is her first year with Riverside Music.

Young children (ages two to five) can also go to camp. The pre-school mini-camps offer music, art and drama. Children become a part of a circle and participate in arts and crafts as well as music and dramatic expression. Camps run Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (minimum two days) from July 4 to August 26.

"Playing music is one of life's great joys ... and it's good for the soul," says Maggie George smiling. "It can certainly make you feel happier. Let us teach you how!"
